I spent the first part of May studying for Finals and working on new business stuff and http://dogdiscarded.com. We then left for Chicago where Joy's brother Nate, graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I now am allowed to say "What's up Doc?" when he calls, as per our agreement.
I then had a planned vacation to canoe and camp on the current river in southern Missouri with a bunch of my friends but those plans fell apart. The rivers throughout Missouri had flooded past flood stage and were closed, yes, all of them. My friends Mike Burton and Brad Marcantelli and I went camping, hiking and hanging out instead, while my friends from Oklahoma, were unable to join us.
After returning from vacation, mid month, I had stockpiled a ton of work at Verizon and had to spend a long time playing catch up. It was a busy few weeks because of our heavy workload from billing cycles, coupled with tons of work I had put off; I'm slowly catching up. I made a few improvements to a website application and my boss was so impressed, he gave me a 2gb, company branded thumb drive and a Verizon hat. It was the thought that counts (I have like 8 thumb drives.)
I went to Donna Powell's Memorial Day picnic yesterday and was glad to see some old friends I rarely get to. We had the standard horseshoe tournament and we won the first one, while the second, more full tournament was less nice. Steve Brubaker was my partner and he had to leave, which sealed our fate. I had a great time and look forward to next year. It's one of the few traditions I have in my life, and I'm glad that it is continuing, despite my good friend Dave (Donna's husband) passing away 2 years ago. Dave would be mad if Donna didn't continue it, so she does, thankfully.
I have tons of work to do on the new business, work at Verizon, the film project and customer websites. I stick to my assessment that if I had 36 hours in a day, I could take over the world. As it stands now, I'm barely keeping my head above the time water level.
